2. Measure the distance from the clutch pedal to the floor and the play in the connection of the clutch pedal pin with the pusher of the clutch master cylinder (pic. 11.1).
Pic. 11.1. Place (A) measuring the height of the clutch pedal and backlash (IN) in connection of the pin of the clutch pedal with the pusher of the clutch master cylinder
Clutch pedal installation height (A):
- cars since 1999 of release with left-hand drive: 163.5-166.5 mm
- cars since 1999 of release with right-hand drive: 162.5-165.5 mm
- cars since 2000 with 4G93 engines with left-hand drive: 173.3-176.3 mm
- cars with engines F9Q1 with left-hand drive: 173.3-176.3 mm
- cars with engines 4G93 and F9Q1 with right-hand drive: 172.8-175.8 mm
Play in the connection of the pin of the clutch pedal with the pusher of the clutch master cylinder (IN): 1-3mm
If the clutch pedal height does not match the required value, loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting bolt to adjust the clutch pedal height (pic. 11.2).
Pic. 11.2. Adjusting the height of the clutch pedal and play in the clutch pedal pin connection: M - adjusting nut, 13 Nm; 2 - adjusting bolt; 3 - locknut, 13 Nm
If the backlash in the joint is outside the range of nominal values, loosen the lock nut and rotate the pusher to adjust the backlash to the nominal value. During adjustment, do not press the pusher of the clutch master cylinder, otherwise the clutch operation will be impaired.
4. After completing the adjustments, check that the free play of the clutch pedal (measured by pedal pad) and the distance between the clutch pedal pad and the floor when the clutch is disengaged are within the nominal range (pic. 11.3)
Pic. 11.3. Free play measurement point (WITH) clutch pedals and distances (D) between clutch pedal pad and floor
Clutch pedal free play (WITH): 6-13mm
Distance between clutch pedal pad and floor (D):
- left-hand drive vehicles: 50 mm
- right-hand drive vehicles: 75 mm
5. If the measurement results are outside the range of nominal values, then this may be caused by air entering the clutch hydraulic actuator, a malfunction in the clutch master cylinder, or in the clutch itself. Bleed the hydraulic drive, disassemble and check the master cylinder or clutch.
6. Replace carpeting.
