Checking the main relay

To check, connect an ohmmeter to contacts 1 and 3 of the relay, while it should show an open circuit. Then, with one additional wire, connect contact 2 of the relay winding with «weight», and with the second additional wire, connect contact 4 of the relay winding to the positive terminal of the battery, while the relay should turn on (click) and the ohmmeter should show a short circuit (resistance 0 ohm) (pic. 8.4). Otherwise, the relay is defective and must be replaced.
