Examination
Check the alternator drive belt tension as follows:
Generator drive belt tension:
- oscillation frequency: 143-185Hz
- tension: 294-490 N
- deflection (set value): 9.7-12.9mm
Using the MUT-II
Warning. Turn off the ignition before connecting or disconnecting the MUT-II
1. Connect the special tool to the MUT-II (microphone).
2. Connect the MUT-II to the diagnostic socket.
3. Turn the key in the ignition switch to the ON position (ON) and select the function from the main menu «Belt tension measurement» (Measuring drive belt tension).
4. Position the microphone in the center of the belt leg between the pulleys at the location indicated by the arrow in Figure 1, perpendicular to the belt surface (at an angle of±15°) at a distance approximately equal to 10-20 mm from the rear surface of the belt.
5. With your hand, gently press the belt between the pulleys in the place indicated by the arrow in Figure 2.1, and check that the frequency of oscillation of the belt corresponds to the nominal value.

Warnings
(1) Belt surface temperature should be as close to normal temperature as possible.
(2) Do not allow foreign particles such as water or oil to enter the microphone.
(3) The measurement result will not correspond to the actual value if the microphone is affected by strong gusts of wind or nearby noise sources.
(4) When measuring, do not allow the strap to touch the microphone, otherwise the measurement result will not correspond to the actual value.
(5) Do not measure with a vehicle running.
Without using the MUT-II
Using a special tool to measure the belt tension, check that the tension is within the nominal value (rice, 2.2).

By deflection of the belt
Apply a force of approximately 98 N to the center of the belt leg between the pulleys at the point indicated by the arrow in figure 2.3 and check that the deflection value is correct.

Alternator Drive Belt Tension Adjustment
1. Loosen the alternator pivot bolt nut (pic. 2.4).
Pic. 2.4. Arrangement of bolts of fastening of the generator
2. Loosen the blocking bolt
3. Turn the adjusting bolt to adjust the belt tension
Generator drive belt tension:
- when installing a used belt:
- oscillation frequency: 155-175Hz
- tension: 343-441 N
- deflection (set value): 10.5-12.0mm
- when installing a new belt:
- oscillation frequency: 203-234Hz
- tension: 588-784 N
- deflection (set value): 6.7-8.5mm
4. Tighten the alternator pivot bolt nut to the required torque
Tightening torque: 44 Nm
5. Tighten the blocking bolt of fastening of the generator the demanded moment.
Tightening torque: 22 Nm
6. Tighten the adjusting bolt to the required torque.
Tightening torque: 5 Nm
