- 1. The booster battery for starting the engine must be 12V, otherwise the vehicle's electrical equipment may be damaged.
- 2. Place the cars next to each other at a distance that ensures the connection of the connecting wires, but excludes the contact of the cars. If vehicles are touching, unwanted grounding may occur. In this case, you will not be able to start the engine of your car, and the electrical systems of both cars may also be damaged.
Warning. Moving vehicles can cause injury. Set the parking brake on both vehicles. Set the gearshift lever to the neutral position.
- 3. Turn off all electrical consumers on both vehicles. This will prevent sparks and prevent the batteries from being discharged and damaged.
- 4. Connect the end of one of the connecting wires to the positive (+) terminal of the discharged battery, and the other end of this wire to the positive terminal (+) battery in another car (used as an additional source).
- 5. Connect the end of the other connecting wire to the negative (-) battery terminal of another vehicle (used as an additional source), and the other end of this drive - to the engine block of a car with a discharged battery at a point that is maximally separated from the battery.
- 6. Start the vehicle with the secondary battery and let the engine idle for a few minutes, then start the vehicle with the dead battery.
- 7. After the engine has started, disconnect the connecting wires in the reverse order of their connection.
