- Headlights must be adjusted using special equipment and in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's instructions. If special equipment is not available, adjust as follows.
- Adjust the tire pressure to the required pressure. The vehicle must be in running order with a full fuel tank, a set of tools and a spare wheel.
- Only a driver weighing 75 kg must be in the car.
- Clean the headlight glass.
- Park the vehicle on a level, level ground.
- Adjustment using appropriate lighting fixtures
- Headlight beam adjustment should be carried out using appropriate lighting devices in compliance with the requirements of the manufacturer's instructions for these devices.
- To adjust the position of the headlights, alternately turn the adjusting screws.
- Visual adjustment using the screen
- Install the car at a distance of 5 m from the centers of the headlight glasses to the screen (pic. 19.76, 19.77).

- Before adjusting, shake the car body so that all suspension elements fall into place.
- On the screen, draw a vertical line through the center of each headlight and a horizontal line through the center of the headlights.
- Turn on the headlights and by turning the adjusting screws (pic. 19.78), adjust their position so that the zone of greatest illumination is located in accordance with the area highlighted in Figure 19.79.

Rated values:
- in the vertical plane: 60 mm below the horizontal line
- in the horizontal plane: line at an angle of 15°
- When adjusting the beam of one headlight, turn off the second headlight by disconnecting the connector from it. If this is not possible, do not block the light from the other headlight for more than 3 minutes, as it may overheat.
Measuring the brightness of headlights.
- Turn on high beam headlights.
- Using a photometer and following the instructions for use, measure the brightness of the light at the center of the headlights.
Headlight brightness: 30,000 cd
Notes
- 1. When measuring the brightness of the light, the engine must be running at a speed of 2000 rpm-1
- 2. If a luxmeter is used to measure the brightness of light, convert its readings to photometer units using the following formula.
I = Er2, Where:
- I - brightness of light candela (cd)
- E - illumination (lux)
- R - distance in meters from the headlight to the light meter
