2. Measure the inner diameter of the brake drum at several places (pic. 15.29).

Brake drum inner diameter
- nominal: 203 mm
- maximum allowable: 205 mm
3. If the wear of the brake drum exceeds the limit, or the brake drum has a significant imbalance, replace the brake drum and brake shoes. Brake drums must be of the same inner diameter and bored at the same time. Never exceed the maximum diameter indicated on the drum.
Checking the evenness of the fit of the brake pads to the surface of the brake drum
1. Remove the brake drum.
2. Remove the brake pads.
3. Rub the inner surface of the brake drum with chalk and run the brake shoe over it (pic. 15.30).

4. If the contact patch is uneven, replace the brake shoe or brake drum.
Note. After checking, wipe off the chalk from the surface of the brake drum and brake shoe.
