Removing
- Remove the front bumper.
- Open the hood and place a clean rag under the corners of the hood to protect the vehicle's paintwork when the hood is removed.
- Turn out bolts, disconnect a cable and remove the cowl lock (pic. 17.1)

- In the passenger compartment, unscrew the screws, disconnect the cable from the handle and the cable sheath from the bracket, then the hood release handle.
- Pull up to remove the hood seal.
- On a car with a 4G9 engine, remove the hood soundproofing.
- Unscrew the rubber buffers.
- Turn out bolts and remove an emphasis of a cowl.
- Disconnect the windshield washer hose.
- Mark the position of the hinges on the hood with a marker.
- Have an assistant support the hood, then remove the left and right hood hinge bolts and, being careful, remove the hood.
- Turn out bolts and remove hinges of a cowl.
- If it is necessary to remove the cable for unlocking the hood lock, first remove the fender liner (from the driver's side). With a screwdriver blade as a lever, release the clamps and remove the cable.
- Remove the cable o-ring from the bulkhead of the engine compartment and remove the cable into the engine compartment.
Installation
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
- Before installing the lock and hood release handle, apply grease to their moving parts.
- If a new part is to be installed.
- Close the hood and check its position relative to adjacent surfaces. Adjust the position of the hood so that when the hood is closed, the gap around the perimeter of the hood is the same on all sides. To adjust, loosen the hood hinge bolts and, moving the hood, adjust its position (fig. 17.2). To adjust the front of the hood in height, screw in or out the rubber buffers.

- Adjust the position of the cable so that when the hood release lever is released, the cable has a slight slack. Check that the hood latch opens when an assistant pulls the hood release lever.
- By moving the hood lock in a vertical or horizontal plane, adjust its position (pic. 17.3).
