2. Install the car on a flat horizontal platform.
3. Press the brake pedal and move the automatic transmission selector lever sequentially to all positions, holding it in each position for several seconds, which is necessary to fill the entire control system and torque converter with working fluid, then set the lever to the position «N».
4. Clean the dipstick installation site from dirt, remove the dipstick and check the condition of the working fluid.
Attention! If the working fluid is «burnt» smell, this is a sign of contamination with small particles of wear of the friction linings of the automatic transmission controls. This should alert you, as the gearbox may need to be overhauled.

5. The normal level of the working fluid should be at the mark «NOT» probe (pic. 12.2). If the level is below the mark «NOT», add fluid to the correct level.
For automatic transmissions, Dia Queen ATF SP II or equivalent is used.
Attention! If the fluid level in the automatic transmission is below normal, then the oil pump will begin to entrain air, which will lead to the formation of a mixture of fluid with air. This, in turn, will cause a decrease in the operating pressure in the control system, slipping of the friction elements of the automatic transmission controls and extended gear changes over time.
Attention! If the working fluid level is higher than normal, then due to the rotation of the gears of the planetary mechanisms, abundant oil foaming will occur, which will lead to the same consequences as in the case of a low working fluid level.
Attention! The end result of air/fluid mixing will be overheating and oxidation of the fluid, which will adversely affect the performance of valves and friction controls. In addition, foaming causes increased release of working fluid through the breather, which can be mistaken for fluid leaks from the system.
6. Push the dipstick firmly into place.
7. In the case of a major overhaul of an automatic transmission or vehicle operation in very difficult road conditions, the replacement of the working fluid and filter is mandatory. At the same time, it must be remembered that only special oil filters are used in automatic transmissions.
