1. If the brake pedal is fully depressed, the ignition key is in the «LOCK» («OFF») or removed from the lock, then the automatic transmission selector lever cannot be moved from the position «R» to any other position, if the button on the automatic transmission selector lever is not pressed.
2. If the brake pedal is fully depressed, the ignition key is set to any position except «LOCK» («OFF»), or removed from the lock, then the selector lever of the automatic transmission can be easily moved from the position «R» to any other position, provided that the button on the automatic transmission selector lever is pressed.
3. If the brake pedal is released and the position of the automatic transmission selector lever is any other than «R», the ignition key cannot be turned to the «LOCK» («OFF»).
4. If the brake pedal is released and the automatic transmission selector lever is in position «R», the ignition key can be smoothly turned to position «LOCK» («OFF»).
If problems occur during the above check, adjust the ignition lock cable as follows.
1. Remove the front floor console and preinstall the AT selector lever handle.
2. Move the automatic transmission selector lever to position «R».
3. Turn the ignition key to position «LOCK» («OFF»).
4. Loosen the lock nut of the ignition lock cable.

5. Press lightly on the junction of the cable with the cam of the locking mechanism in the direction of the arrow shown in fig. 12.5 until the rope stops. Tighten the lock nut to 12 Nm.
6. Install the floor console.
After adjustment, check the operation of the starter lock mechanism again. If it does not work properly again, replace the ignition switch interlock cable.
