Examination
1. Attach the special tool to the drive belt.
2. Pass the O-ring of the measuring tool under the graduated scale.

3. Mount the special measuring tool and apply force to it as shown in fig. 4.1.
4. This position can be determined with the thumb as the stem must be flush with the surface of the measuring tool.
5. Carefully remove the measuring tool and note the deflection of the drive belt.
Deflection corresponding to the specified (required) tension:
- when checking - 3.5 mm;
- used belt - 3.0 mm;
- new belt - 2.0–3.0 mm.
Adjustment
1. If tension is out of specification, loosen mounting bolts and nuts A and C (pic. 4.2) alternator and, by turning the adjusting nut B, adjust the belt tension.

2. Tighten the alternator mounting bolt and nut.
