2. Remove the timing belt cover.
3. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC on the compression stroke.
4. Turn the ignition key to position «ON» and the MUT-II tool, measure the tension of the timing belt.
5. Loosen the timing belt tensioner locknut.
6. Adjust the tension of the timing belt with the M6 bolt.
Pic. 5.3. Installing the microphone when measuring the tension of the timing belt: 1 - microphone MB991668; 2 - bolt M6; 3 - locknut
7. As shown in fig. 5.3, hold the microphone (MB991668) at a distance of 10 to 20 mm from the back of the belt perpendicular (inclination no more than 15°).
8. With your fingertip, lightly press the center of the belt between the tensioner and the crankshaft pulley in the position shown by the arrow in fig. 5.3, and on the instrument determine the frequency of the belt, which should be (90±15) Hz.
Attention! When measuring, the belt surface temperature should be close to room temperature.
Attention! Be careful not to get water or oil into the microphone.
Attention! If strong gusts of wind or noise occur in the vicinity of the microphone during measurement, the measurement error will be large.
Attention! If the measurement was taken with the microphone touching the belt, the measured value will differ from the actual value.
Attention! Do not take measurements while the engine is running.
