If the wiper arms stop due to ice or dirt on the glass, the wiper motor may burn out even if the switch is turned to «OFF» («OFF»).
Do not turn on the windshield wipers if the glass is dry. This can scratch the glass and cause premature wear of the brushes.
Before turning on the wipers in cold weather, check that the wipers are not frozen to the glass. Turning on the wipers with frozen brushes can lead to burnout of the motor winding.
Try not to turn on the washers for more than 20 seconds of continuous operation. Do not turn on the washer when there is no fluid in the reservoir. This could damage the washer pump.
Regularly check the level of detergent in the reservoir and top up if necessary. If the indicator lamp for insufficient fluid level in the washer reservoir lights up, fill the reservoir with washer fluid as soon as possible. In cold weather, be sure to add anti-freeze fluid at the recommended concentration to the windshield washer reservoir. Otherwise, the washer will not work and, due to freezing of the liquid, parts of the system may fail.
When using the washers in cold weather, the washer fluid applied to the glass may freeze on the glass, reducing visibility. Before turning on the washers, heat the glass with a heater or using a forced ventilation system (heater).
