Checking the effort to turn the steering wheel on a stationary vehicle

1. Place the car on a flat horizontal platform, and the front wheels - parallel to the longitudinal axis of the car.

Attention! 2. Start the engine and set the engine speed to (1000±100) min^-1

Attention! After checking the set speed, set the idle speed.

3. Install the spring dynamometer on the steering wheel rim (see fig. 13.2).

4. Measure the force required to turn the steering wheel from a straight position to the left and right (by 1.5 turns). Also check that there are no significant deviations from the required steering force. The maximum effort on the steering wheel should be equal to (34±5,9) N.
