Details of the universal joint
1. Retaining ring; 2. Oiler; 3. Bearing; 4. The neck of the cross; 5. Fork flange; 6. Sliding spline fork; A. Lubricate
Excess lubrication is not allowed, otherwise the bearing will not fully fit on the cross and a significant error in the choice of retaining rings by thickness is possible
Device for dismantling cardan joints: for the front shaft - МВ990840, for the rear shaft - МВ991410
An arrangement of lock rings of bearings of a crosspiece
1. On the cross of the front shaft; 2. On the cross of the rear shaft; 3. Ring groove
1. Apply relative orientation marks to both forks so as not to disturb the balance during assembly.
2. Remove the retaining rings that secure the cups of the bearings of the cross (front shaft - left, rear - right).
3. To remove the cross, you will need a clamp, an insert and a mandrel. The diameter of the insert should be slightly smaller than the hole in the yoke to push the bearing out, and the diameter of the mandrel should allow the pressed bearing to fall out.
4. Press out the other pair of spider bearings in the same way.
Assembly
1. Fill the new bearings with fresh SAE J310A NLGI N2 EP grease, lubricating the necks of the new cross, the needles and the lips of the stuffing box with it.
2. Insert the bearing cups into the opposite holes in the cardan yoke, install the cross and press both bearing cups into the cardan yoke so that the retaining ring can be inserted.
3. The cross must be centered relative to the bearings when pressing.
4. Similarly, press in the remaining 2 bearings of the cross of the other fork, aligning the marks on the forks.
5. Insert the bearing circlip on one side, then turn the joint over and repress the opposite bearing cup, insert the opposite circlip.
6. Check the gap between the second inserted ring and the groove. If the gap exceeds 0.06 mm, then replace the circlips (front shaft - left, rear - right). The thickness of the rings on both sides should be the same.
