Head cleaning consists of removing seal residues and deposits from combustion chambers and valve heads. When cleaning, use a hard wood or plastic scraper (scratching is not allowed). At the same time, clean the split plane of the cylinder block by carefully covering the cylinders with a rag.
After cleaning and flushing the head, check the condition of the split planes.
The permissible deviation of the plane with the cylinder block from the caliber is 0.05 mm anywhere.
If the deviation does not exceed 0.20 mm, then grind the head. Otherwise, replace the head.
If the deviation of the split plane of the cylinder block from the caliber exceeds 0.05 mm, then grind the block or replace it. The manufacturer has set the rate for reducing the thickness of the cylinder head during grinding - 0.20 mm.
On V6 engines, the plane of the intake manifold should also be ground. After cleaning, it is recommended to install the timing parts.
