2.6L engine
On these engines, the only clearance check in the inductive sensor is allowed, which should be carried out only after dismantling the ignition distributor and is not a mandatory maintenance procedure. Reducing the gap against the norm is not allowed. As a rule, a small gap is due to wear on the bearings of the ignition distributor roller or improper assembly.
1. Remove the distributor cap.
2. Turn away 2 bolts of fastening of a rotor.
3. Rotate the crankshaft to align the 3 stator heads with the 3 ends of the sensor rotor.
Engine 2.0L
On these engines, it is possible to check and adjust the gap in the induction sensor, which should be performed in case of suspicion of abnormal ignition operation and is not a mandatory maintenance procedure.
1. Remove the distributor cap and slider.
2. Turning the crankshaft clockwise, align the teeth on the sensor rotor with the stationary part of the ignition unit.
3. Check the gap between the tooth and the fixed part of the ignition block, which should be 0.8 mm. Adjust if necessary.
4. To do this, loosen the screws and insert the probe into the gap.
5. Turning the ignition block on the left screw (moving in the right slot), set the clearance.
6. Tighten the right screw, then the left screw.
7. Check clearance and install removed parts.
