Adjustment
2.4L engine
1. Adjustment is carried out with the air conditioner off.
2. Warm up the engine.
3. Check up that turns of idling correspond to norm.
4. Stop the engine.
5. Make sure there are no extra bends in the cable.
6. Check the free play of the sheathed cable (1-2 mm for vehicles with manual transmission and 3-5 mm for vehicles with automatic transmission).
7. If necessary, adjust cable travel by doing the following.
8. Turn on the ignition for 15 seconds, do not start the engine.
9. Loosen the adjusting nut to fully loosen the throttle lever.
10. Turn the nut until the lever moves, loosen 1 turn and tighten the locknut.
11. Make sure the cable stop touches the idle speed corrector drive.
12-valve 3.0L engine
1. Make sure there are no extra bends in the cable.
2. Make sure the damper rod touches the stopper.
3. Loosen the adjusting bolts on the intake manifold and fix the cable sheath so that the free play of the cable in the sheath is 1-2 mm. If the free play is large, then the car will quickly lose speed on the slopes, if there is no free play of the cable, the idle speed will increase.
4. Check up fullness of opening and closing of a butterfly valve.
24-valve 3.0L engine and 3.5L engine
1. Make sure there are no extra bends in the cable.
2. Make sure the choke lever touches the stopper.
3. Make sure that the free play of the sheathed cable is 1–2 mm.
4. If necessary, adjust by turning the sheath adjusting nut, which is locked with a locknut.
