Glow plugs — removal and installation

The diesel engines of the cars in question are equipped with a quick start system (Quick Glow System), providing diesel engine start-up in 5–10 s. The system includes resistive candles, a relay and an additional resistor. The system remains on until the fluid temperature exceeds 55°C.

Removing

1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.

2. Turn away nuts and disconnect the tire of a food of candles.

3. Turn out candles. It is forbidden to subject candles to sharp mechanical loads.

4. Check the resistance of the candle, which should be 0.23 ohms, as well as the condition of the power rail.

Installation

1. Install the spark plugs in the reverse order, tighten them with a torque of 17 Nm.

2. Tighten the tire fastening nuts with a torque of 1.4 Nm.
