Valve clearance adjustment on a diesel engine
1. Ring wrench
2. Screwdriver
3. Probe
Preliminary work must be carried out in order to gain access to the valves. This applies mainly to the removal of the upper toothed belt guard and the cylinder head cover. The set value for the intake and exhaust valve clearances is 0.25 mm.
1. Turn away the top protective casing of a gear belt. The casing is fixed with four bolts on the front side. Pull the cover forward and slide under the water hose.
2. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover and the boost pressure enricher pressure hose from the high pressure fuel pump.
3. Release the throttle cable from the clip on the cylinder head cover and lay it aside without bending it.
4. Turn away bolts of a cover of a head of cylinders and remove a cover. The semicircular sealing insert at the rear of the cylinder head must not fall out.
5. Turn a cranked shaft before installation of the piston of the first cylinder in position of the top dead center. In this case, the mark on the camshaft pulley and the triangular mark on the upper part of the timing gear housing must match, as shown in Fig. The position of the mark on the camshaft sprocket.
6. With the engine in this position, adjust the clearances of the following valves:
intake and exhaust valves of the first cylinder, intake valve of the second cylinder, exhaust valve of the third cylinder.
7. After that, turn the engine one revolution and adjust the clearances of the following valves: exhaust valve of the second cylinder, intake valve of the third cylinder, intake and exhaust valves of the fourth cylinder. When making adjustments, use a ring wrench, screwdriver or feeler gauge of the appropriate thickness. Set up the tools as shown in fig. Valve clearance adjustment on a diesel engine. The valves on a diesel engine are located from the side with the water hose in the following order: exhaust valve, inlet valve and then in the same order to the fourth cylinder.
