Vehicle identification plate
Deciphering the identification number of the car
Vehicle identification number (VIN number) indicated on a plate mounted on the left side of the front partition of the passenger compartment and is visible through the windshield.
The numbers and letters of the number mean the following:
- 1. Country of manufacture
- 2. Model (e.g. Mitsubishi, Hyundai, etc.)
- 3. Vehicle category (passenger, cargo, etc.)
- 4. Type of seat belts used, vehicle weight category
- 5. Brand (or family) car (e.g. Precis, Galant, etc.)
- 6. Finish code / price group (base, low, special, etc.)
- 7. Body type
- 8. Engine cylinder capacity
- 9. Check digit or letter (to verify the serial number, it does not matter for the owner)
- 10. Factory (company), on which the car was made
- 11. Since 1985, the 12th digit indicates the transmission code followed by the 5-digit serial number. Since 1986 all 6 digits indicate the serial number

Vehicle information plate
Reinforced with rivets on the fan shroud in the engine compartment.
The vehicle information plate contains the model code, engine modification, transmission and body color code.
Chassis number
Embossed on the frame next to the right rear wheel.
Vehicle certificate
The certificate plate is affixed to the left door pillar.
The certificate plate contains the month and year of manufacture, the curb weight of the vehicle, the axle load and the identification number of the vehicle.
