Steering column switch
The test is only performed while driving.
Checking the operation of the cruise control
1. Turn the main switch to the On position.
2. While driving at a speed of 40 km/h, press the Set button.
3. Make sure that the speed does not change when the button is released and remains constant while driving.
Attention! If the speed drops by about 20 km/h when climbing (15 km/h for vehicles 1992-98) relative to the set value, the cruise control will deactivate automatically.
Overclocking
1. Pick up speed.
2. Move the switch to the Resume position.
3. Make sure that when the switch is held in this position, the speed increases, and when the switch is released, the vehicle speed remains constant and equal to the speed at the time the switch was released.
Attention! Even if during acceleration the speed reaches the limit value of 145 km / h (200 km/h for vehicles 1992-98), then acceleration will still continue. After releasing the switch, the speed will slowly return to the limit value.
Engine braking
1. Pick up speed.
2. Move the switch to the Set position (press the Set button on the vehicles of early releases).
3. Make sure that when the switch is held in this position, the speed drops, and when the switch is released, the vehicle speed remains constant and equal to the speed at the time the switch was released.
Attention! If the speed reaches a lower value of 40 km / h, the cruise control will turn off automatically.
Shutdown and Resume (Cancel and Resume modes)
1. Turn on cruise control.
2. Check that the cruise control is disengaged when one of the following conditions is met: the switch is in the Cancel position, the brake pedal is depressed, the clutch pedal is depressed, on vehicles with an automatic transmission, the selector is in position N.
3. While driving at a speed of at least 40 km/h, move the switch to the Resume position.
4. Make sure that the vehicle speed has become equal to the one with which it was moving before the cancellation of this speed.
5. While driving at a constant speed, turn the main switch to the Off position and check that the vehicle enters normal driving mode.
Speed sensor
You have to remove the instrument panel to access the sensor (see subsection 13.16).
