Steering column (1983-98)
1. Bottom lining; 2. Duct cover; 3. Horn button; 4. Airbag module; 5. Rudder; 6. Lower casing of the column; 7. Upper casing of the column; 8. Rudder shaft lock; 9. Lid; 10. Key lock cable (on vehicles with automatic transmission); 11. Rope handle (on vehicles with automatic transmission); 12. Bolt; 13. Steering column
Attention! Before starting work, take measures to prevent the airbag from deploying.
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Remove both casings of a steering column, disconnect wires and take aside.
3. Remove the ignition switch (if provided by the design).
4. Remove the lower heater air duct.
5. Disconnect the steering column wires.
6. Remove the ignition and steering lock, remove the reminder switch.
7. Disconnect the brake pedal spring on the column.
8. Turn away a bolt of a collar of a shaft of a wheel, bolts of fastening of a cover to the floor panel, bolts of fastening of an arm of a column and remove a column.
9. At installation enter a shaft of a column into the steering mechanism, check up correctness of installation of a column and tighten bolts of a column with the moment of 22 Н·м.
10. Install all removed parts in reverse order.
12. Connect wires.
13. Tighten the steering shaft clamp bolt with a torque of 29–34 Nm.
14. When installing the column, do not unscrew or loosen this bolt.
15. Bolts of fastening of a cover wrap on sealant.
