For the lubrication of parts of manual transmissions, a long-term synthetic oil is provided. Unlike the engine, oil in the gearbox is practically not consumed. If there are no signs of oil leaks on the outside of the gearbox, then its level has not decreased. However, the oil level must be checked from time to time. In automatic transmissions, the fluid level can only be checked in the main gear, the level in the gearbox must be checked at a service station using a special diagnostic tool MUT II.
Check and repair
Oil may leak out due to leaking seals. Check the connections in the following places:
- between gearbox and engine;
- the place where the shafts exit the gearbox;
- filler plug;
- drain plug.
All gear units of the gearbox have a very long service life. If the box fails, it must be repaired at a technical center, since repairs must be carried out by qualified specialists using a special tool.
If you decide to carry out repairs yourself, then keep in mind that for a quality gearbox repair, accuracy and a very clean workplace are necessary. In addition, a special tool is required for repair.
