Note. When removing the radiator cap, be careful not to get burned by hot coolant or steam. Wrap a towel around the radiator cap and turn it counterclockwise slightly to relieve pressure through the vapor tube. Once the pressure has been released, remove the plug by slowly turning it counterclockwise.
After removing the radiator cap, unscrew the radiator drain plug and drain the coolant from the radiator, heater, and engine.
Drain the engine cooling jacket by removing the cylinder block drain plug.
Remove the expansion tank and drain the coolant from it.
After draining all the coolant, flush the cooling system by directing a jet of pressurized water into the radiator filler pipe.
Lubricate the threaded part of the drain plug of the cylinder block with sealant and tighten it to the specified torque.
- Sealant name: 3M part number 4171 for threaded connections or equivalent.
- Tightening torque: 44 + 5 Nm.
Securely tighten the radiator drain plug.
Install the expansion tank.
Attention! Do not use alcohol- or methanol-containing coolant or mixtures thereof with any of the glycol coolants. The use of prohibited coolants can cause corrosion of aluminum alloy parts.
Select the concentration of the low-freezing liquid solution depending on the ambient temperature. The concentration of the solution should be in the range of 30-60%. Use the pressure test kit to charge the coolant (MV991871). Usually a solution is prepared containing 50% water and 50% anti-freeze liquid concentrate (freezing point: -31°C).
Recommended brand of antifreeze concentrate: DIAQUEEN SUPER LONG LIFE COOLANT or equivalent.
Quantity: 7.0 l.
Note. Before using the MB991871 tool, read the instruction manual that came with the tool.
Install the radiator cap.
Start the engine and warm it up to the opening temperature of the thermostat valve.
Increase the speed several times up to 3000 min-1, then stop the engine.
Let the engine cool down.
Remove the radiator cap and add coolant to the edge of the filler neck.
Install the radiator cap.
Attention! Do not overfill the expansion tank.
If necessary, add coolant to the expansion tank so that the fluid level is between the marks «F» And «L».
Determination of the concentration of a low-freezing liquid solution
To determine the concentration of the coolant solution, measure its freezing point and density.
Rated value: 30–60%.
Recommended antifreeze concentrate grade: DIAQUEEN SUPER LONG LIFE COOLANT or equivalent.
Attention! If the concentration of the low-freezing liquid solution is less than 30%, then the anti-corrosion properties of such a solution are significantly reduced. If the concentration is above 60%, then the heat capacity of such a solution is less than the calculated value, which worsens the conditions for engine cooling. Therefore, the concentration of the coolant solution should be strictly monitored.
