1. Engine off and steering wheel locked. The ignition key can only be inserted or removed in this position.
2. The engine is off, but you can turn on the radio, cigarette lighter, etc.
3. The engine is running and all electrical systems can be turned on.
4. The starter works. After starting the engine, release the key and it will automatically return to the «ON» («On»).
Note. To remove the key from the ignition switch, turn it to the «ACC» («Optional equipment»), then press the key until it turns to the «LOCK» («blocking»), then take it out.
For vehicles equipped with ignition switch illumination
The ignition switch illumination will turn on after you open the driver's door and remain on for approximately 30 seconds. after you close the door.
For vehicles with remote control door locks
When you get out of the car and remove the ignition key, the ignition switch light will be on for approximately 30 seconds. However, if the ignition key is turned to the «ON» («On»), the ignition switch light will turn off.
On vehicles with exterior lighting during daylight hours when the ignition key is in the «ON» («On»), dipped headlights are switched on, etc.
For vehicles equipped with an electronic immobilizer, in order to start the engine, it is necessary that the identification code sent by the transponder built into the ignition key (defendant), coincided with the identification code registered in the electronic unit of the immo-bilizer.
Attention! Do not remove the key from the ignition while driving, as this will lock the steering wheel and make the vehicle uncontrollable.
If the engine is stopped while the vehicle is moving, the brake booster will stop working and the efficiency of the braking system will be reduced. The power steering will also not work, so more physical effort will be required to control the steering wheel.
Don't leave the key in position «ON» («On») for a long time when the engine is not running, as this will lead to the discharge of the battery.
Do not turn the key to position «START» («Starter») with the engine running. This could damage the starter.
