Press the brake pedal only with your right foot. Using the left foot for this purpose slows down the driver's reaction in the event of an emergency.
To avoid sudden acceleration, do not greatly increase the engine speed when moving the selector from the position «N» or «R».
Overtaking acceleration
To quickly accelerate the vehicle when overtaking with the Automatic Transmission Selector position «D» («Movement»), depress the accelerator pedal as far as it will go. This will automatically shift from fourth gear to third, from third to second or from second to first in accordance with the speed of the car, in this case there is no need to switch the gear selector from the position «D» («Movement»).
Note. In manual shift mode, depressing the accelerator pedal all the way down does not automatically downshift.
Movement on the rise
The transmission may not shift to a higher gear if the ECM determines that the current vehicle speed cannot be maintained when the higher gear is engaged.
To ensure a smooth vehicle ride, if you release the accelerator pedal while driving uphill, the transmission may not shift to a higher gear. This is normal because the ECM temporarily prevents gear changes in this mode of operation. Upon reaching the top of the hill, the automatic transmission switches to the normal shift mode.
Downhill driving
When driving down a steep slope, the electronic control unit will automatically switch to a lower gear. This function allows you to increase the efficiency of engine braking, thereby reducing the need to use the vehicle's brake system.
Stop
For short stops, for example, before a traffic light at an intersection, you can keep the gear in place and hold the car in place using the service brake (pressing the brake pedal). For longer stops with the engine running, move the automatic transmission selector to the position «N» (neutral).
Attention! Never hold the vehicle on a slope by shifting into gear and depressing the accelerator pedal. Always use the service and/or parking brake.
Do not unnecessarily press the accelerator pedal when braking the vehicle. In this case, the car may accelerate unexpectedly if the selector is not in the position «R» («Parking») or «N» («neutral position»). When starting off, make sure the selector is in position «D».
Parking
When parking the vehicle, first of all, bring it to a complete stop and fully raise the parking brake lever. Then move the automatic transmission selector to position «R». If you are going to leave the car unattended, stop the engine and remove the ignition key.
Note. When stopping on a slope, before moving the automatic transmission selector to the «R» Be sure to fully raise the parking brake lever first. If you first move the selector lever to the position «R» and only then raise the parking brake lever, it may turn out that when trying to move off, more (than usual) effort to move the selector to another position.
