This switch is active when the ignition key is in the «ON» («On») or «ACC» («Optional equipment»). Turn the knob at the end of the lever to turn on the wipers and rear window washer.
Intermittent mode. The brush will make several movements in a row, and then it will work at an interval of about 8 seconds.
Windshield wiper off.
Washing liquid will be supplied to the rear window when the handle is turned all the way in any direction. Simultaneously with the supply of washing liquid, the wiper automatically operates several times.
Note. To ensure a good view through the rear window, the wiper will make several strokes in succession when switching to position «- «», as well as when moving the gear lever (Manual Transmission) or automatic transmission selector (Automatic transmission) into position «R», if the wiper switch is in position «––». The wiper will then automatically switch to intermittent operation.
Precautions when using windshield wipers and washers
If the wiper arms stop due to ice or debris on the glass, the wiper motor may burn out even if the switch is turned to «OFF» («Off»). If the brushes are blocked, stop the vehicle in a safe place, turn off the ignition and clean the windows of dirt and ice so that the brushes can move freely.
Do not operate the windshield wipers when the glass is dry. This can scratch the glass and cause premature wear of the brushes.
Before turning on the windshield wipers in cold weather, check if their brushes have frozen to the glass. Turning on the wipers with frozen brushes can lead to burnout of the motor winding.
Try not to turn on the washers for more than 20 seconds of continuous operation. Do not operate the washer when there is no fluid in the washer reservoir. This could damage the washer pump.
Regularly check the level of detergent in the reservoir and top up if necessary. In cold weather, be sure to add anti-freeze windshield washer fluid to the reservoir at the recommended concentration. Otherwise, the washer will not work, and parts of the system may fail due to freezing of the washer fluid.
