Checking the ignition coil (with built-in power switch)
The verification is carried out in accordance with the above verification points. In the event of a malfunction, the ignition coil must be replaced.
Checking the resistance of the secondary winding
Check the resistance between the terminals of the secondary winding.
Rated value: 8.5-11.5 kΩ.
Checking the primary winding and power transistor
Attention! An analog tester should be used for this test.
Connect the tester's negative lead to the «1».
Attention! This test should be done as quickly as possible (no more than 10 s), to exclude the possibility of overheating of the ignition coil winding and power transistor.
Checking high-voltage wires with distributed resistance
Measure the resistance of all high voltage wires.
Check the condition of the lugs and outer insulation.
Measure the resistance of the wires.
Maximum allowable value: No more than 19 kOhm.
Checking and cleaning spark plugs
Attention! While disconnecting the high voltage wires from the spark plugs, hold on to the end of the wire. Do not apply force directly to the wire.
Remove high voltage wires.
Remove spark plugs.
Attention! The spark gap of iridium spark plugs cannot be adjusted.
Use spark plug cleaner to clean spark plugs. The cleaning time should not exceed 20 s. Do not use wire brushes to clean spark plugs. This can damage the iridium and platinum electrodes.
Check spark gap. If the gap exceeds the allowable value, then the candle must be replaced.
Nominal value: 1.0 - 1.1 mm.
Maximum allowable value: 1.3 mm.
Attention! When checking the spark plugs, do not allow foreign particles to enter the cylinders.
Clean wells for installing spark plugs.
Screw in the spark plugs.
Checking the camshaft position sensor
If a fault code P0340 is stored in the memory, then check the condition of the camshaft position sensor wires.
Checking the crankshaft angle sensor
If fault code P0335 is stored in the memory, then check the condition of the crankshaft angle sensor wires.
Checking the knock sensor
If fault code P0325 is stored in the memory, then check the condition of the knock sensor wires.
