Removing
Before you start removing parts, do the following:
- A) Drain the coolant.
- b) (GDI engine) Remove the decorative engine cover.
- V) Remove the timing belt.
Removal of parts is carried out in the order of the numbers indicated in the figure "Removing the coolant pump".
Checking the coolant pump
1. Check each part for cracks, damage or wear, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
2. Check the gland assembly for leaks, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
3. Check the bearing for damage, excessive running noise and slow rotation, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
Installation
Installation of details is made in an order, the return to removal.
When installing the parts, pay attention to the installation operation of the water pump.
Evenly apply a strip of sealant with a diameter of 2.5 - 3.0 mm to the mating surface of the coolant pump so that there is no excess sealant, as well as its gaps.
Mitsubishi Genuine Parts No. MD970389, Three Bond 1207F or equivalent
Note: Installation must be completed within 15 minutes of sealant application.
After completing the installation of the parts, perform the following operations:
- A) Install the timing belt.
- b) (GDI engine) Install the decorative engine cover.
- V) Fill in coolant to the required level.
