Removing
Attention: on models with an additional passive safety system (SRS) before removing the airbag, read the safety precautions given in the appropriate section of the chapter "Additional passive safety system (SRS)".
- Remove the steering wheel before removing parts (see section "Steering wheel").
− Removal of parts is carried out in the order of numbers indicated in the figure "Steering column".
Steering column. 1 - the lower casing of the steering column; 2 - upper casing of the steering column; 3 - stalk combined switch assembly with a spiral wire; 4 - latch; 5 - ignition lock cable; 6 - casing of the steering column; 7 - steering column; 8 - protective cover assembly.
Disassembly
− Removal of parts is carried out in the order of numbers indicated in the figure "Steering column disassembly".
Steering column disassembly. 1 - special bolts; 2 - steering column lock bracket; 3 - steering column lock; 4 - retaining ring; 5 - steering shaft assembly; 6 - spring; 7 - steering column pipe.
− Pay attention to the following operations when removing parts.
1. Removing the special bolt, steering column lock bracket and steering column lock.
A) To remove the steering column lock, drill holes in the bolt heads.
b) Cut the threads in the holes with a tap.
V) Screw in the bolts to remove the special bolts.
G) Remove special bolts.
Check before assembly
1. Check up an axial backlash in the hinge of a steering shaft.
2. Check up absence of a bend of a steering column.
3. Check up a steering column on absence of malfunction and damages.
