Removal and installation
− Before removing the parts, remove the lower part of the center console and, if necessary, the front driver's seat (see chapter "Body").
− Removal is carried out in the order of numbers indicated in the figures "Removing the parking brake parts (models with rear disc brakes) and parking brake cable".
Removing the parking brake parts (models with rear disc brakes) and parking brake cable. 1 - rear brake caliper assembly; 2 - rear brake disc; 3 - return springs of pads; 4 - regulator spring; 5 - brake clearance regulator; 6 - spacer plate of pads; 7 - spacer plate spring; 8 - cap of the support pin of the block; 9 - spring of the support pin of the block; 10 - support pin of the block; 11 - brake pads (with overlays); 12 - parking brake cable.
Removing the parking brake lever. 1 - adjusting nut; 2 - connector for the parking brake indicator switch; 3 - connection of the parking brake drive cables as an assembly; 4 - parking brake lever assembly; 5 - parking brake indicator switch.
− (Models with rear disc brakes) When removing parts, pay attention to the following operations:
1. Removing the caliper assembly.
The removed brake caliper must be suspended with a wire.
2. Removing the cap of the pad support pin.
Spread the parking brake pads and remove the pad support pin caps.
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
− When installing parts, pay attention to the following operations:
1. Installing the brake clearance adjuster.
Attention: Install the adjuster so that the adjuster bolt on the left rear wheel points towards the front of the vehicle and the adjuster bolt on the right rear wheel points towards the rear of the vehicle.
2. Installation of return springs pads.
Install return springs as shown.
Attention: the load characteristics of the corresponding shoe return springs are different. The characteristic of the spring can be determined by the presence of an identification color mark, shown in the figure.
Note: The figure shows the location of the springs for the left wheel. For the right wheel, the arrangement of the springs will be symmetrical.
− After completing the installation of the parts, perform the following operations:
- A) Adjust the travel of the parking brake lever
- b) Install the lower part of the center console and the front driver's seat (see chapter "Body").
Checking brake pad and parking brake drum wear (models with rear disc brakes)
1. In several places, measure the thickness of the friction lining of the brake shoe of the parking brake.
Nominal value - 2.8 mm
Limit value - 1.0 mm
Attention: if the thickness of the lining is equal to or less than the maximum permissible value, then replace the parking brake pads.
2. Measure the parking brake drum diameter (brake disc inner diameter) in several places.
Rated value - 168 mm
Maximum allowable value - 169 mm
Attention: if the diameter of the parking brake drum is equal to or greater than the limit value, then replace the rear brake disc.
