Gear shift actuator — device

COLT / LANCER uses cables instead of conventional shift rods (except for models with a petrol engine from 1.84 to 8.86). This has the advantage that less unwanted vibrations are transmitted to the passenger compartment and to the gear lever, and that the movements of the operating units have less effect on the gear change drive. In addition, this gearshift drive is virtually maintenance-free.

When the gear is engaged, lateral movement in neutral position (gear selection movement) and longitudinal movement, when the selected gear is engaged, are clearly distinguished. Each of the movements is transmitted to the gearbox through a separate cable.
