The 1.6 liter turbo engine has a central injection system. This means that the fuel, like in a carburetor, is injected into the intake pipe through a single central injection valve. All other engines have an injection system where fuel is injected in several places (MPI device). With these injection units, the fuel is injected just before the intake valves via 4 injection valves. The following discussion deals mainly with MPI devices.
All parts of the fuel injection system are designed for a long service life, so the need for their repair is extremely rare. If any of the sensors fails, the control unit switches to an emergency program, and a warning lamp lights up on the dashboard. In this case, the engine runs unevenly, and deviations in the behavior of the car may occur. Even the shortest faults are stored in the fault memory of the control unit.
Attention: The fault memory is erased when the battery mass is disconnected or the control unit connector is removed for more than 10 seconds.
