TDC sensor — check

The TDC sensor is located on the distributor and sends a pulse signal to the control unit as soon as the piston of cylinder 1 is in the ignition TDC position. If the sensor fails, the control unit is not able to maintain the desired injection sequence. At the same time, the engine runs unevenly, stalls and does not perceive gas.



Disconnect 6-pin connector (A). Connect a voltmeter to pin 2 of the cable part of the connector and to ground (e.g. motor block). Turn on the ignition. Required value: 11-13 V. Turn off the ignition.

Connect an ohmmeter between terminal 1 and ground. The resistance should be 0 ohm, turn off the ignition.

Check output voltage. To do this, connect a voltmeter to pin 4 and ground. Turn on the ignition. Required value: 4.8 5.2 V. Turn off the ignition.

Connector pinout differences:

• engine 1.5 l, release from 9.88 to 8.90: power supply = pin 3; ground = pin 2; output - pin 4.
• 16-valve engine, releases from 9.88 to 8.90: power supply = pin 2; ground = pin 1; output = pin 3.
• 16-valve engine, release from 9.90 to 2.92: power supply = pin 3; ground = pin 4; output - pin 1, see also connector (IN) in fig. K-2210.
