To avoid personal injury and / or damage to the electronic ignition system, when working on vehicles with an electronic ignition system, the following points should be considered:
- Do not touch or remove the ignition cables while the engine is running or the starter is running.
- Disconnect the ignition wires only when the ignition is switched off. When the ignition is switched on, a high voltage pulse may be generated due to the shaking of the distributor.
- Connect and disconnect instrument wires (rev counter/strobe) only when the ignition is off.
- Do not connect a radio interference suppression capacitor or test lamp to the ground terminal of the ignition coil.
- Do not connect gauges and stroboscope to the positive terminal of the ignition coil while the engine is running.
- The ignition coil cannot be replaced with another type of coil.
- It is forbidden to warm up the car to a temperature above 80°C (e.g. painting, drying). Start the engine only after the vehicle has cooled down.
- Car wash only with the ignition off.
- Disconnect the battery completely for electric and spot welding.
- Persons using a pacemaker must not work on the ignition system.
