Attention: The connection cable cannot be repaired or soldered; if the cable is damaged, the entire lambda probe must be replaced.
Removing
Disconnect the lambda probe connector from the right front side of the cylinder head.
Engine 1.3 / 1.5 l
To remove the lambda probe, a special spanner wrench is used (MD 998 770).
Engine 1.6 / 1.8 l (16 valve)
To remove the lambda probe, a special spanner wrench is used (MD 998 703).
If there is no special key, unscrew the heat shield of the collector.
Unscrew the lambda probe from the front muffler pipe or from the catalytic converter housing.
Installation
Attention: When replacing, install a lambda probe of the same type.
Clean thread.
Coat only lambda probe threads with BOSCH special grease for lambda probes. New probes are already coated with this lubricant. Grease must not get into slots or holes in the probe body. Do not touch or contaminate the body of the probe.
Attention: If the probe is screwed in without lubrication, the threads will later burn out. In this case, the lambda probe cannot be unscrewed.
Screw in lambda probe and tighten to 50 Nm.
Connect the lambda probe connector.
