When handling brake fluid, please note the following:
Brake fluid is poisonous. Never suck out brake fluid by mouth through a hose. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid only when there is complete certainty that there is no error.
Brake fluid is aggressive and must therefore not come into contact with painted parts of the vehicle, otherwise wipe off immediately and rinse with plenty of water.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic, i.e. takes moisture from the air. Therefore, store brake fluid only in closed containers.
Brake fluid that has been used in the brake system must not be refilled into the system. When bleeding the brake system, also use only new brake fluid.
Brake fluid grade: FMVSS 116 DOT 3 or DOT 4, as well as SAE J1703.
Brake fluid must not come into contact with grease and mineral oils. Even small traces of mineral oils make the brake fluid unusable; leads to failure of the braking system.
Brake fluid is changed every 2 years, regardless of mileage. It is desirable to replace the fluid after the cold season.
Take old brake fluid to a local collection point for special waste, do not drain it into the sewer. Do not mix brake fluid with engine oil.
