Attention: if the fan does not work at only one speed, the ballast resistor is usually faulty. The fan needs to be removed to replace the resistor.
Resistance replacement
Disconnect the earth cable from the battery.
Attention: This erases data in the electronic memory, such as the engine fault memory or the radio code. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is off, otherwise the control unit of the fuel injection device may fail. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in sections "Radio" And "Removing and installing the battery".
Open "glove box" and release the tabs from the frame. Reject "glove box" down.
Loosen the screws securing the rear wall "glove box" and take off.
Remove resistor -2- and replace.
Checking / removing the fan
Remove the air duct under the fan motor. The fan motor is on the right behind "glove box". To facilitate access to the engine, it is better to first remove the right trims -2- and -3- and the control unit -9- of the injection system and put them aside.
In the footwell of the front passenger, remove the blower motor connector. Connect the plus and minus of the battery to the motor terminals. Motor must run normally, otherwise replace.
Reverse the battery poles at the motor terminals and check the normal operation of the motor during reverse rotation.
During normal operation of the motor, the defect should be sought in the heater relay, switch or wiring.
Loosen the 3 screws on the fan motor cover and pull the fan down.
Check the ease of movement of the fan rotor.
Remove foreign objects from the air duct.
Installation
Install and fix the fan, not forgetting to install the gasket, see the figure in paragraph 22.1.
Caution: Replace a deformed or damaged gasket.
Install fan, all trims and glove box in reverse order.
Connect ground cable to battery.
If available, set the time on the clock and enter the security code into the radio.
