Heater — general information

Fresh air for the heater is sucked into the grate under the windshield and enters the passenger compartment through the heater ventilation system. In this case, the air flows around the heater housing and exits through various flaps into separate air outlet nozzles. If the heater is installed "warm", the cold air is heated by a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is located in the heater housing and is heated by hot coolant. The flowing fresh air is warmed up by the hot sections of the radiator and then exits into the passenger compartment. On cars manufactured before 8.88, the heater had water regulation, that is, the temperature was regulated by a valve in the heater coolant channel. On vehicles from 9.88, heating is controlled by the amount of air passing through the heat exchanger (air regulation), and the coolant constantly circulates in the heat exchanger. To increase the power of the heater, a four-stage heater fan is used. To set different fan speeds, resistors are connected. These resistances are located on the fan connection board. In the event of a defect, the connection board is replaced as a set. The heater housing, as well as the fan, are located in the passenger compartment under the instrument panel.

Special version: air conditioner

With the air conditioner, the interior temperature can be set lower than the outside temperature. The operation of the air conditioner also reduces the humidity in the cabin. The A/C compressor is driven by the engine via a V-belt, which must be checked as part of maintenance and replaced when worn, see section "Service". Repair of the air conditioner should only be carried out in special workshops.

Attention: it is forbidden to open the circuit of the working fluid of the air conditioner, do not carry out welding work near it, since when the fluid leaves the circuit, there is a danger to health.
