2WD mode (position «2H»)
When choosing a mode «2H» the movable ring is in the position shown in figure M2 4.007.
In this case, the chain gear pulley does not rotate and the torque is not transmitted to the front axle.
4WD mode (position «2H» or «4L»)
In this mode, the movable ring is in the position shown in Figure M2 4.008, and provides the transmission of torque to the drive gear pulley of the chain drive.
Dual Cone Synchronizer
In order to reduce the specific contact loads on the synchronizer blocking rings when gears are engaged, the new synchronizer design provides for the presence of three rings:
- the outer blocking ring works in the same way as the blocking ring of a conventional synchronizer;
- a two-cone ring, which has both outer and inner conical surfaces;
- The inner synchronizer ring engages with the inner cone of the double cone ring.
At the same time, you should pay attention to the fact that the outer and inner blocking rings are fixed in rotational movement with the synchronizer hub, and the two-cone ring with its projections is fixed in the holes of the connected gear (in this case, it is a toothed chain pulley).
