The tension of the camshaft drive belt is carried out by an automatic tensioner and cannot be adjusted.
Belt tension «IN» balance shaft drive to be adjusted on the vehicle (see below).
To make a decision to replace the belt, it is necessary to inspect it for defects.
Possible defects of toothed belts
Hard, inelastic, hardened rubber on the back of the belt. When pressed with a fingernail, no trace remains on the surface.
Cracks at the base of the teeth and detachment of the cord.
Cracks on the back of the belt.
Tears or cuts on the side of the belt.
Strong side wear and rounded edge.
Severe wear or missing teeth.
Toothed belt tension adjustment «IN» balance shaft drive
1. Remove the top protective cover.
2. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and align the alignment marks of the pulleys as shown in the figure.
Caution: Do not turn the crankshaft counterclockwise as this will result in incorrect belt tension results.
3. Remove protective caps (1) from the technological holes of the bottom cover.
4. Loosen the screws securing the tensioner (flange screw - 1 turn, and hex socket screw - 1-2 turns). This will move the tensioner and tension the belt.
After that, first tighten the hexagon socket screw, and then the flange screw.
Tightening torques:
- screw with hexagon socket - 20±4 Nm;
- flange screw - 23±3 Nm.
5. Replace the protective caps and the top protective cover (see fig. М21.019).
