Checking the oil level in the crankcase of the front (4WD) and rear axle gearbox

For final drive gearboxes, the manufacturer recommends using gear oil of GL-5 or higher API classification.

SAE Viscosity:

• at ambient temperature above 10°C - SAE90W;
• at ambient temperature below 10°С - SAE 80W.

Filled oil volume:

• front axle - 1.2 l;
• rear axle - 2.6 l.

The oil level must not be higher than the lower edge of the filler hole (the hole is located in such a way that excess oil can drain through this hole) and not less than 8 mm from the lower edge of the filler hole.

Attention: exceeding the oil level in the gearbox is unacceptable! In this case, the conditions for lubricating the gearbox are violated (so-called «oil mist»), and the unit may be damaged.

After unscrewing the filler plug, check that the oil level is not lower than 8 mm from the level of the filler hole. After checking and topping up (if necessary) level, tighten the filler plug. Filler plug tightening torque: 50 Nm.
