Due to the presence of an automatic tensioner, adjustment of the belt tension is not required.
Methods for checking the tension of the V-ribbed belt
Checking the belt tension by vibration frequency using a frequency tester and a measuring microphone.
Standard value: 107-151 Hz.
Checking the belt tension by vibration frequency with the connection of a special device to the vehicle's diagnostic connector (see fig. M2 1.004).
Standard value: 107-151 Hz.
Checking belt tension using a strain gauge.
Standard value: 196-392 N.
Note: if the measured value is out of range, the tensioner must be checked.
Checking the operation of the automatic belt tensioner
Remove the belt from the pulleys (removal procedure is described in section «Engine. Mechanical»).
Using a ring wrench and turning the automatic tensioner, make sure it is free (without jamming) moves in the directions indicated by the arrows. Otherwise, the tensioner needs to be replaced.
