Windshield wiper
The windshield wiper is activated when the ignition key is in the ON or ACC position.
The windshield wiper is activated by moving the switch located on the right side of the steering column.
- MIST - Single wiper operation
- OFF - Disabled.
- INT-Intermittent wiper operation, depending on the speed of the vehicle. The windshield wiper frequency varies depending on the vehicle speed.
- LO - Low speed.
- HI - High speed.
Note. The operating mode, in which the frequency of the wiper operation depends on the vehicle speed, can be disabled (For more information, please contact an authorized MITSUBISHI MOTORS service center).
Removing moisture from glass
To operate the wiper once, move the stalk up (indicated by an arrow) and let him go.
This mode is useful when driving in fog or drizzling rain.
If you hold the lever in the up position (MIST), the wiper will continue to operate until the lever is released.
Windshield wiper frequency adjustment
Intermittent wiper frequency (in INT position) can be adjusted by turning the knob (A).
Windshield washer
The windshield washer can only be turned on when the ignition key is in the ON or ACC position. To apply washer fluid to the windshield, pull the switch towards you. At the same time, the windscreen wiper operates automatically, making several moves while spraying the washing liquid.
If the vehicle is equipped with a headlight washer, then (with headlights on) The headlight washer operates the first time the windshield washer is turned on.
Attention. If you use the washer in cold weather, liquid that gets on the windshield may freeze, impairing visibility. Before using the washer, warm the glass by turning on the glass heating or blowing mode to remove moisture.
Note:
- You can apply washing liquid to the glass without turning on the cleaner. To do this, pull the lever towards you and, holding it in this position, turn the key in the ignition switch to the ON or ACC position.
- The operation of the windshield wipers at the time of applying the washing liquid to the windshield can be disabled. For more information, contact an authorized MITSUBISHI MOTORS service center.
Headlight washer switch
The headlight washer can be turned on when the ignition key is in the ON or ACC position and the headlights are on.
The liquid is supplied to the glass headlights after a single press of the button.
Note.
- If the ignition key is in the ON or ACC position and the headlights are on, the headlight washer will operate the first time the windshield washer is turned on.
- Periodically check the headlight washers to make sure that the fluid is applied accurately to the headlight lenses.
Precautions when using the windshield wiper and washer
If the operation of the wiper blades is obstructed by ice, dirt, etc. on the glass, the wiper motor may fail even if the Override™ wiper switch is in the OFF position. If the wiper blades are stuck, stop the vehicle in a safe place, turn off the ignition and clean the glass to ensure that the wiper operates smoothly.
Do not operate the wiper when the glass is dry. Doing so may scratch the glass or prematurely wear out the brushes.
Before turning on the wiper in cold weather, check if the wipers are frozen to the glass. If you turn on the wiper with the brushes frozen to the glass, the electric motor may fail.
Try not to turn on the washer for a long time (more than 20 sec). Do not operate the washer if the washer fluid reservoir is empty. Otherwise, the electric motor may fail.
Periodically check the fluid level in the washer reservoir and top up if necessary.
In cold weather, fill the tank with a special anti-freeze fluid. Failure to do so may result in washer failure, as well as damage to system components due to fluid freezing.
