Air release from master cylinder

The master cylinder does not have a check valve, so (when there is no brake fluid in the master cylinder) air release should be made in the following sequence.

1. Fill the TJ reservoir.

2. Depress the brake pedal and hold it.

3. The second mechanic should close the outlet of the master cylinder with his finger.



4. With the outlet closed, release the brake pedal.

5. Repeat steps 2-4 three or four times until the master cylinder is filled with TJ.
