Removing the driver's airbag and rotating contact joint is carried out in the following order (see fig. M2 7.073).
1. Lid (see below).
- Horn plug.
- Driver Airbag Module Plug (see below).
2. Driver airbag module (see below).
3. Steering wheel (see below).
- Steering column cover.
4. Rotating contact joint (see below).
Installation is carried out in the reverse order with the product checks (see below) before and after installation (after battery connection).
Removal Features
The cover is removed using an upholstery remover.
To disconnect the spring plug, press and hold the release button.
To remove the driver's airbag module, unscrew the fasteners (stellate) steering wheel screws.
To remove the steering wheel, turn it so that the wheels are straight ahead and remove it using the special tool.
Installation Features
Before installing the airbags, it is recommended to check with a diagnostic tool.
The installation of the rotating contact joint is carried out in the following way.
1. Align the marks. This should be done as accurately as possible for the safety of the driver during subsequent operation of the vehicle. Turn the spring fully clockwise. Then turn it counterclockwise approximately 3.75 turns until the marks match.
2. Turn the steering wheel so that the wheels are as straight as possible, then install the spring on the column switch.
Before installing the steering wheel and driver airbag module, turn the wheels straight ahead. After fixing the steering wheel, turn it in both directions and check that it turns normally.
After installing and connecting the battery, perform a simple check.
Turn the ignition on and watch the SRS indicator: if it lights up for about 7 seconds and goes out, then the system is in order; otherwise, the system has problems.
