Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Jack up the car and put it on stands. Drain the oil from the transfer case.
3. Disconnect from a final collector a reception pipe of system of release of the fulfilled gases.
4. Unscrew the transfer case and carefully remove it from the rear propeller shaft - try not to damage the stuffing box seated in the casing of the output compartment. Immediately tie the free end of the propeller shaft with a wire to the frame elements.
5. Seal the openings in the transmission box and crankcase to minimize transmission oil loss and prevent dirt from entering the components.
Installation
1. Lubricate the propeller shaft sliding yoke and oil seal lips in the transfer case extension housing. Install the box on the transmission. In the process of connecting to the cardan shaft box, try not to damage the oil seal.
2. Tighten the transfer box mounting bolts to the required torque (55÷60 Nm: for models with manual transmission and 60÷80 Nm: for models with AT).
3. After replacing the gasket, connect the downpipe to the exhaust manifold.
4. Replace all components removed for access.
5. Fill fresh transmission oil into the transfer case and transmission (see chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
