Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Disconnect the AT selector drive cable from the lever.
3. Turn out two fixing screws and remove the gauge switch.
Installation
1. Install the sensor-switch in its regular place. Screw in the mounting bolts, but do not tighten them until the adjustment of the sensor-switch is completed.
2. Connect the electrical wiring to the sensor-switch and adjust it (see below).
3. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
4. Make sure that starting the engine is possible only in the positions "R" And "N" transmission. Also check the operation of the reverse lights when the selector lever is moved to the "R".
Adjustment
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Apply the parking brake and chock the wheels of the vehicle.
3. Look for the start enable switch mounted on top of the transmission housing.
4. Loosen the shift cable adjusting nut on the transmission case. In the passenger compartment, move the selector lever to the position "N".
5. Also move the manual transmission shift lever to the position "N".
6. Loosen the screws securing the sensor-switch and turn the latter so that the 5 mm hole in its body is aligned with the mating hole (also 5mm) in the manual shift lever.
7. Tighten the sensor-switch mounting bolts with the required force (10÷12Nm).
8. After pulling the drive cable in the area of the adjusting nut, fully take up its slack, then tighten the nut with a force of 12 Nm.
9. Make sure that the sensor-switch lever moves to the appropriate position when switching AT modes from the passenger compartment.
10. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
11. Make sure that the engine can only be started in the positions "R" And "N" transmission. Also check the operation of the reverse lights when the selector lever is moved to the "R".
Galant models since 1994 and Mirage since 1998 issue.
Removing
1. The start enable switch on these models is also located on top of the transmission case.

Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
3. Disconnect from the lever a drive cable of selector АТ.
4. Give a nut of fastening of a driving cable of management of switching of transmission to the manual lever of transmission. Pull the cable aside.
5. Move the hand lever to the position "N", then loosen the nut on the lever.
6. Disconnect the wiring from the start enable switch.
7. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the gauge switch.
Installation
1. Install the sensor-switch in its regular place. Screw in, but do not tighten the mounting bolts yet.
2. Connect the hand lever to the sensor-switch and fix it with a nut - make sure that the lever remains in the position "N".
3. Adjust the sensor-switch (see below), then finally tighten the sensor-switch mounting bolts with the required force (11 Nm).
4. Connect the wiring to the sensor-switch.
5. Connect the shift cable, select its slack, check the freedom of movement of the lever and tighten the cable fastening nut.
6. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
7. Make sure that starting the engine is possible only in the positions "R" And "N" transmission. Also check the operation of the reverse lights when the selector lever is moved to the "R".
