Except 3.0L engines (SOHC and DOHC) and 3.5 l
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. If necessary, remove the air intake sleeve.
3. If necessary, release the throttle cable from the intermediate clamps.
4. At the corresponding complete set disconnect a ventilating branch pipe from a cover of a head of cylinders.
5. Remove the PCV valve with the hose connected to it from the cover.
6. On 1.6L and 2.6L models (DOHC) remove the protective cover of the BB wiring harness.
7. Mark and disconnect the wires from the spark plugs BB, set aside the wiring harness with separators.
8. Give three fixing bolts and remove the top cover of a timing belt.
9. Moving from outside to inside, turn out bolts of fastening of a cover of a head of cylinders.
10. Remove the cover from the cylinder head and separate the gasket from it.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the cover and cylinder head.
2. Install new gaskets/rings on the cylinder head cover (depending on configuration).
3. Lay the cover on the cylinder head, screw in and, moving from the center to the edges, tighten the fixing bolts with the required force (see Specifications).
4. Connect to a cover of a head of cylinders a branch pipe of a breather.
5. Install the BB wiring harness with separating brackets in its regular place (separators), connect the wires to the spark plugs.
6. On 1.6L and 2.0L models (DOHC) reinstall the protective cover of the BB wiring harness.
7. Install the air intake in its regular place.
8. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
9. Start the engine and check for proper operation and signs of leaks from under the cylinder head cover.
Engines 3.0 l and 3.5 l
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Remove the top section of the inlet pipeline (see Section Removal and installation of the inlet pipeline).
3. On 3.0L DOHC models, remove the protective cover of the BB wiring harness.
4. Disconnect the BB wires from the spark plugs.
5. Disconnect tubes of system of ventilation of a crankcase from covers of both heads of cylinders.
6. Give fixing nuts of clamps and disconnect a braid of electroconducting of the engine from covers of both heads. Move the harnesses to the side.
7. Turn out bolts and hairpins of fastening of covers of heads of cylinders.
8. Remove both covers.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean the mating surface of the cylinder heads and their covers.
2. Install new gaskets on the covers.
3. Lay the covers on the cylinder heads (each to his).
4. Screw in the mounting bolts and studs and, in a strictly defined order, tighten them with the required force (see Specifications).
5. Put the engine wiring harness in place and tighten the fasteners for the intermediate clamps.
6. Connect the pipes of the crankcase ventilation system to the cylinder head covers.
7. Reinstall the BB wiring separators, connect the BB wires to the spark plugs.
8. On 3.0L DOHC engines, reinstall the BB wiring harness cover.
9. Install the upper section of the inlet pipeline (see Section Removal and installation of the inlet pipeline).
10. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
11. Start the engine and check it for proper functioning and signs of development of leaks from under the cylinder head covers.
