Front wheel drive models
To avoid deformation of the bumper, the vehicles considered in this Guide should not be towed using a tow truck equipped with a cable extension - try to call a tow truck that provides the wheels of one axle off the ground, or is equipped with a loading platform.
Models equipped with a manual transmission can be towed front-to-back, provided the transmission is intact and in neutral. The steering wheel must be fixed in a straight position using a special towing lock.
The steering column lock built into the ignition lock is not able to provide sufficient force to keep the front wheels in a straight position while the vehicle is being towed!.
AT-equipped models can be towed without taking the front wheels off the ground only at a speed of no more than 50 km/h (30 mph) and no further than 30 km (18 miles). If these conditions cannot be met due to any special circumstances, the vehicle should be towed with the front wheels off the ground.
All-wheel drive models
Only two options for towing all-wheel drive are allowed (AWD) models: without lifting the wheels off the ground, or with their complete separation. Failure to comply with this condition may lead to failure of the viscous clutch.
